Tattoo Aftercare

Congratulations on your new ink. Below are some tips and considerations for longevity and effective healing of your tattoo

Watch out! Danger ahead

Water sucks

Minimize water exposure for the first 4 weeks. Showering is fine, yet avoid swimming or extended submersion of your tattoo

Sun's out, guns out

Avoid direct sun exposure to your tattoo for the first 4 weeks. And always apply sunscreen after the healing period

Resist the itch

Don't forget you have a new addition to your skin. Avoid scratching the tattoo or picking at it. If the itch is unbearable, give it a slap or apply tattoo balm

It puts the lotion on the skin

Here is a step by step guide for taking care of your new tat:

1. Leave the cover on for 1-3 hours.

1.5 If I put "second skin" on, leave it on for up to 5 days, if it comes loose or irritation occurs, take it off.

2. Give your Tattoo a wash (gentle soap and warm water). Pat it dry and let it breathe for the rest of the day.

3. Put on a thin layer of tattoo aftercare before bed (and re-wrap with glad wrap if necessary for large tattoos)

4. Until the tattoo if fully healed (2-4 weeks) apply tattoo aftercare 3 times a day. Less is more, keep it moisturized, not saturated. Below are some options I recommend as balm

-Hustle Butter (found online) - good shit

-Tattoo Bepanthen  (most chemists will stock) - make sure it is the tattoo version

-Dr. Pickles (found at Woolies)

-Pawpaw ointment

note: take care of your health during the healing period, rest, hydrate, eat well. the better you take care of yourself and the tattoo, the better it will stay for the rest of your life. Gracias,

much love
